About Dr. Kim

Dr. Kim's Story

After completing her training, Dr. Cathy Kim practiced conventional primary care medicine on the East Coast and in Southern California for over 20 years, including prenatal, newborn, pediatric, and urgent care. While delivering care to the underserved in the Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC) satellite clinic system, Dr. Kim taught herself to speak Spanish fluently to native Spanish-speakers. During her subsequent time at Kaiser Permanente, she received a National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) award for delivering quality diabetes care.

In addition to direct patient care, Dr. Kim has been a project leader for patient-centered care, outpatient preceptor for the VCMC family medicine residency, and a primary care lecturer. Board-Certified in Family Medicine, Dr. Kim is a member of the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM).

Over the years, Dr. Kim has been an active volunteer and leader in her children’s public schools and is the proud mother of two adult children.

Mission of Whole Body Health

If you had a house with a faulty foundation, you might call a plumber and a carpenter to address your leaking pipes and sticking doors. As the house settles more over the years, the same problems would recur because you didn’t address the underlying issue with the foundation. Dr. Cathy Kim seeks to address the foundation of your body’s symptoms, leading to long-lasting results and relief.

Dr. Cathy Kim focuses on the basic mechanics of the body’s musculature and how correction of extreme imbalanced patterns can improve or even cure life-limiting conditions such as: tendonitis, hip pain, headache, vertigo, menstrual pain, etc. Over time, Dr. Kim also began to notice a relationship between the body’s mechanical imbalances and other “medical” conditions (restless legs, vertigo, eustachian tube dysfunction, fibromyalgia).  Rather than viewing patients through the lens of labs and imaging studies, Dr. Kim carefully identifies this unseen dimension of body structure and incorporates it into a treatment plan.

Dr. Kim also has a sophisticated perspective to help you understand how an anti-inflammatory lifestyle can improve your situation or help prevent increasingly prevalent conditions such as: dementia, arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes, and even cancer. She partners with you to provide knowledge, insights, and other resources for you to embark on the path of healing your whole self.

Testimonials

I’ve been to multiple sports medicine doctors and orthopedists. I’ve been to a ton of physical therapy offices, with all my injuries from all my sports over the years and never has my pain subsided as much as when I got introduced to Dr. Kim. I had all this pain for about five years in my hip and then I went to see her. She showed me what to do, and I’ve been pain-free for about a year now.

I came to Dr. Kim after 6 years of Tailbone bone pain, and she was not interested just in my tailbone. Dr. Kim is a doctor who looks at the whole picture and helped me be mindful about my movement in ways that I had never really considered before and the proper way to make your life as good as it could be. It works, it makes sense, it’s logical, it’s just different... and I don’t think enough people know about it. My reflux is much, much better... and my digestive system altogether is much more regulated. The tools Dr. Kim has given me are lifelong tools. I have referred Dr. Kim to so many people in my life.

I am so grateful to have met Dr. Kim. She is a welcome change to the traditional doctors who only want to prescribe medications and don’t look at the root causes or provide simple lifestyle changes which could alleviate your issues. I’ve had gut issues my entire life and the older I got, the worse they got. She explained what was going on in my gut and what I needed to do to fix/prevent it with dietary and supplement suggestions as well as yoga stretches, etc. She is always so kind, compassionate and understanding. I have complete trust in Dr. Kim to steer me in the right direction whenever I need it.
